Cable Scarf Coming Righ Along!

My cable scarf is coming right along! Actually it will be my Mum's new scarf. I went hunting got more yarn and I did not think I would find more of it since it came in a kit, but I did at Micheals! Cheap too, thankfully. I got myself a pair of size 8 circle needles so that I could start on a cabled hat that I plan to spin from the yarn I am spinning.

Until next time...

Note to self....

ALWAYS-ALWAYS-ALWAYS....put plastic wrap on the TP rolls when reeling silk....otherwise the TP roll will stick to the ball winder and it will be impossible to get off!!!

Italian Soda/Handmade Soda

Ingredients:

  • Favorite Flavoring Syrup (usually found with the coffee, my fav is raspberry-when I can find it)
  • Sparkling Mineral Water
  • Half and Half creamer
  • Whipped Cream

Super Dooper Easy Directions

Mix to taste. HA! I usually use about two tablespoons of syrup, 1/4 cup creamer, 1/2-1 cup of the mineral water, topped with whipped cream. It's best when chilled.

Plying balls

Get your head out of the gutter-not those type of balls. *sheez*
Here you can see two different colored spun and wound balls of silk that I have plied (next photo).

I plan on making a charm bag for a friend who has allowed me to prune her mulberry trees so that I can feed my silkworms.
I just died the ball on the left, the purple one. The other one I dyed in splotches then spun. Neat!

Ball Winder

I finally got myself a ball winder and it has made reeling silk much-much-much 10X faster and easier. I did 30 cocoons last night in about 30 minutes when before it was taking about 2 hours! What a jump!

But when I tried to ply six TP rolls full of silk, I found three of them were stuck together (the silk was that is) and I was unable to reel it. I cannot find the end on one, so I will have to cut it, card it and spin it. I like the lumpy silk yarn I get from silk this way. It's very decorative-good for small things like charm pouches/bags.

The winder cost almost ten dollars more than I was quoted, but it's going to my LYS which is still fairly new around here, so it will help them along, and I become a valued customer. I've almost spent $200 there over the summer already! SHeez! Adds up quick! But I think a reason why it may have been higher is that I am pretty sure they are paying fuel surcharges that they are trying to make up for.

I've finally got the continental knitting down, and it is quite a bit faster to knit using that method than what I was doing. I learned from a DVD and I was just following what they were doing. They didn't teach continiental knitting, but the English throwing method. They really ought to not start people out like that. It may be easier but it is hard to learn the other method later on. It's taken me weeks to get the method down pat.

Until next time...

An amazing thing...

An amazing thing happened between the BF and I last night. While talking about exploring some avanues of fun for couples, he became very uncomfortable and got that look about him when he wants to say something, but is afraid too. I poked a little, prodded a little more and still he would not talk. I told him, we've been through this routine a million times...he doesn't talk, I get frustrated over it, and eventually I blow my top at him for it. But then, a mental image of a situation popped into my head. I inquired if that was the situation he was thinking about....YES it was. Amazing. I reassured him that things would be ok if we decide to switch roles. He was afraid that I would tie him up and then leave him there-hot and bothered. I would never do that in such a situation. Although he says I tend to turn him on and then leave him that way...I'm being affectionate, what I call being affectionate anyways (nibbling, hugging, kissing...) and I guess that is all a big turn on. Slap me silly already!

If I have any phychic ability, it is strongest with the BF. I've been told that it is that way because my shields are completely down around him. Well, they ought to be!

Until next time....

I have found yet more worms with that god damned grasserie virus! One you got it in the environment around the brooding area, it doesn't go away! Argh!I am sick of working to find food for these little shits only to have a bunch of them die off...what a waste of my time and energy! SO now I am gonna have to net up every fucking day, twice a day, until I get weed out all the sick ones. Grrrrrrrr. I dunno if I will do chinese silkworms again next year. I may just stick with the wild silkmoth polyphemus. Grrrrrrrrr.
