Someone bought a set of my turquoise stitch markers! YAY! NOw I hope the BF gets home before the bead shop down the street closes so I can buy some more turquoise nuggets.

My Moth has hit a bump in the knitting road.

ACK-ACK-ACK! Moving right along...until *screeeeeeaaaaaaach!

If anyone has done this pattern and can help me...here is my problem on the reversed stockinette stitch between the pine cone and twin leaf patterns. Row 4.

What I have knitted: one stitch, a marker, a YO and 3 stitches before the new marker on one end (for a total of 4 sts), and on the opposite end, I have one stitch, a marker, TWO stitches, and the newly placed marker. Did I miss something? Should there be such a variance on the two ends?

Here is the line I followed:

"K1, *SM, YO, P4, PM, purl to one st before the next marker (which would be the one before the middle stitch) , PM, P1, YO, SM, * K1 (center st), REPEAT FROM * TO *, END K1"

The note says "stitches between new markers will be worked in the Twin Leaf pattern....stitches outside those markers will be worked in stockinette, with 3 sts on each long side in reverse stockinette to balance the lace pattern.

I have four sts on one long side end, and two on the other! ACK-ACK-ACK. I've emailed the maker of the pattern and the Wing of the Moth shawl...but...I am impatient to keep knitting! I am half done and I cannot wait till it is finished and I can show it off!

I am majorly confuzzled...

New Buttons for Dye-o-Rama and Project Spectrum

I got my PSP back up and running and made some new tags for the Dye-o-Rama swap and for Project Spectrum, 2007. You may snag them if you like. There are several different versions as I played and tinkered. I heard that project spectrum is including metallics this year, so I thought that I should change the 2007 font to reflect that (that is why that is silver).

Blockbuster Exchange in store ads...there's a catch

As always...strings are attached when it comes to blockbuster. I thought it sounded interesting, we already have netflix, so I checked it out because we live right down the street from a blockbuster.

Here are the strings attached terms and conditions for in-store exchange:

"* Separate in-store membership required for in-store rentals. In-store movie rentals are subject to store rental terms and conditions, including due dates and charges which may apply to rentals not returned by the due date. See store for complete in-store rental terms and conditions. Free in-store rentals must be returned to the store where they were originally rented. See your receipt for store location and due dates."

So, in other words, in order to exchange in-store you HAVE TO PAY MORE for the convenience of living nearby one and doing this in order to take another movie out. What A RIP-OFF! Don't fall for it. I pay $18 a month for over a dozen rentals from netflix, they come really fast when there are no holidays interrupting the mail.
I've emailed them and asked for them to elaborate on this and explain to me how is this so much better than netflix (their number one competitor in this field).

I fear for the future...

I was listening to the Coffee Psychic on the Connie and Fish morning show this morning (z104.1 FM Madison WI) and she said that she predicts the next year to be full of natural disasters. And said something about a tsunami hitting one of the US coasts! EEP! I thought last year was bad...getting hit by lightening, tornados all around where I live (just not in this town), trees being blown over because of 80 MPH winds, trees being struck by the super-duper storms that ran right over the city....shit loads of rain...and now...no snow-no cold. This is definately not normal, and a by product of global warming. I was on edge all last summer as each storm passed through, and the sirens blarred at almost each one. Will I ever stand in the patio, watching the lightening again? Uh....NO! I'm beginning to fear thunderstorms...I've always been facinated by them, but now...they scare me.

*shiver*

So yahoo groups is giving me one hell of a pain in the ass today. One of the members to the swap got booted off the group somehow, so I reinvited her in. And then, we had one person who left last week, her information stayed in the database. I was under the impression that when someone leaves a group, their contrubutions went with them. Well...either it was glitch, or I am mistaken.

So two fires out...I am sure there will be more to contend with.

Made myself some fried rice for the first time. It came out soooooooooo good! Tonight, brauts!

Zarnan keeps base jumping...OMG it is the funniest thing to ever see! He must be bored out of his mind. I think I will take him out of his cage for 20 minutes or so, so he can use that extra energy. I tape a long peice of cotton string to the back of his shell so I can keep track of where he goes, otherwise I would loose track because he is still a small critter....slow moving or not! He can really boggy when he wants too!

My silk and alpaca yarn I dyed yesterday turned into a light boucle (sp?) yarn as the alapaca ply did some wierd loopy thing. So there are small loops of alpaca all throughout the yarn. That should prove interesting!

I'vew been watching CSI Miami episodes all morning off of CBS.com. It so ROCKS that they put the latest episodes on there to watch FOR FREE!!! Next I am gonna get caught up on the Hero episodes. I've missed the last three because our cable was out, and then I forgot this week. *smacks forhead*

I had the strangest dream last week about SCI Miami. I dreamed that Horatio was....*giggle* a vampire *BWaaaaaaaaaaaa-ha-ha-haaaaaaaaaaaaa*, and so was Delko and one other character that was from CSI New York. Only they were vamps, and no one else knew. And in order to save a woman victom from fatel shooting wounds, he fed her some of his blood. Delko protested, and Horatio said that if he didn't, she would die. He had Delko hold a door closed so that the parametics could not get through until he was done feeding his blood to the victom...so as not to expose himself for what he really was. Oh let me tell you...it was a FANTASTIC dream that I did not want to wake from!! I'm wierd and I know it so I clap my hands!

Yarn sale at Micheals Crafts, SP10, and other news

I bought twelve balls of Bernat Matrix yarn, Acid Axis and Copper Wire...for $12!!! They are on clearance at my local store on the east side, and when I got there I thought I had missed it all because the shelves were nearly empty. They had a few of some pink color, but I am not a pink fan.

When I asked if they gave rain checks for sale yarns, she said only if they are not on clearance. These were, BUT, they had three more boxes of all the colors!!! Yippiee!!! Let that be a lesson to those out there too shy to ask, if you don't ask, you may just be missing out! I was actually after the blue browser color, until I saw it. It was very dull, and the blues were grey blue. YUCK! So I settled on the green and blue, and copper and red balls. I bought six of each. WHAT A DEAL! I am thinkin I will make a triangle shawl or a rectangle throw out of it on size 15 needles. They have a pattern on the Bernat site for a shawl made from the ladder yarn, but it requires 5 balls! Sheez! The ribbon shawl I am doing at the moment only takes 3 balls!

SP10 will be starting in February! Keep up to date by subscribing to their blog at secretpal10.blogspot.com !

My eyes are really weird. When I went to the eye doctor for a checkup because I was not seeing (or rather reading) clearly, they said that my left eye had upped a click. But then they did not have the correct samples in stock so they gave me one click down for my left, and one click UP for my right. I had been wearing those for almost a month. When I was finally able to purchase a box of contacts for each eye, the left one turned out to be too strong! Arrrrgh. Some days my eyes are fine, other days I feel like I am going blind. Doc says it's probably just that time in my life when things are a little iffy. Yeah, can you say Saturn return?! I will be 29 in March, and Saturn entered my charts early last year. Blah! So when I called and told them that the order for the left eye was too strong, and that I had been wearing one click down and I had put that one back in, I was told that that was my old prescription. Well poop I said. My eyes seem to be really fussy this year (well, last year now). SO maybe my prescription did not change, and it is just a flux. I think the flux is in rhythm to my blood pressure. When I do not exercise at least once during the week, I find it hard to focus clearly. SO I make a point of going for a long walk at least once a week, and I do an AB workout the other days (attempting to reduce my belly).

I lit my Mother Earth candle on New Years eve, and wished for all the things that I wanted, wished that my job stays steady, that I earn lots of cash, that my relationship with the BF continues to flourish, and that I can reconnect with the earth. I stayed up New Years Eve and knitted all night. I finally had to stop about 1 AM because I could not see straight! LMAO! I have been feverishly trying to get that Wing of the Moth shawl down. With every row it gets bigger, and takes longer to complete each row. On top of that I am almost through the last skein of yarn I spun up for it, so I need to work on spinning up some more. No big. I'll just watch a movie while I spin it up. I was thinking that I will have to over dye it with golden yellow to even out the color from all the different skeins. This last one, the alpaca did not dye as well as previously successful dye attempts. I don't really care for the tweed look, not with lace.

Everybody asks me who it is for. ME of course! My first lace knitting, my first shawl, hell no-I won't let it go! HA-ha-ha-ha!! The next one will be for my Mum. She'll love it.

The Mystery Skein swap is on it's way and I have closed the yahoo group to new memberships. I've denied two already. It says right there on the home page, that we are no longer accepting new memberships in big red type because swapping has begun. Do people ever stop and READ that? I had a couple Mongrels (poopie-butts, pain-in-the-asses, party crashers, etc) try to put a damper on the swap, even so far as accuse me of trying to steal peoples information because I do not use my real first name. Well honey, no one is forcing you to play, so you can leave whenever you please because I don't have to use my real name and I will not. Lesson learned the hard way through identity theft. Of which I will never recover from. My credit will always be scared with it. So puck you lady! Go rain on someone else's parade.

I had to boot one person from the group because they were starting shit. No flaming wars allowed! This is supposed to be a FUN thing! Sheez. Butt-wort. Then one person had not entered their information into the database and I missed pairing them up. Even though I said that if your information was not in the database in time you would be SOL, I still offered to pair the person up with a volunteer angel (people who are willing to swap with more than one person). They declined and ask that I go ahead and remove them from the group. Okay, I'm not gonna beg and plead. Out they went.

Some people are just out to find shit where there isn't any. Some people just can't grasp how to have fun. To them I say, thanks, but no thanks. No butt-warts allowed!!!

Turquoise with Black, Dyeing times Part 2

Well, it came out WONDERFUL! I love how the black is interspersed and randomized all over the yarn! Some pics of the finished yarn, and one of right before the pot started to boil to steam set the black. I love the different shades from black to gray where the black half absorbed around where it initially hit.

And some more pictures of the dyeing flop yarn. Once it dried, I actually love the way it colored! from blue-violet, to red voilet and back! I figured that the silk did not tak eup as much dye because there was not enough vinigar in the water. Apparently, it needs a little more than wool. So now I have two very indvidual hanks of very soft handspun "exotic" yarn! I think I will make a pouch out of one, or both of these either in strips or using a motif.
