I got my White belt, and caught some orbs!

ORBS!! Upper left.
The BF took my picture when I got home and he caught some orbes too! Look-Look!

And then the uniform pants are too long for my short stubby self. Take a look at the foot pictures. One is with the pants pulled up, the other...I kicked and ploof the leg went back down.

One down, three to go till I get a purple belt! I found out that the rest of the promotions will cost me $30 a pop. Sheez. What an expensive hobby! Leave it to me to pick the expensive ones! I am gonna have to keep track of how much I spend on this so I can say, yeah...I spend X amount for all this. Can you believe that?!

So six months from now, when I have gone to class twice a week with each session getting longer and harder, and with each belt earned...I will look back at these pictures and gaze at how big I let myself get. I just needed something to come along that I liked to help me loose the wieght. *grin*

I have a mans foot. Big. Flat. Hairy. I am gonna have to whip-stitch the pant legs up or use those stretchy head bands to keep them in place so my hairy legs don't show too.

We've started learning kicks. I impressed my partner today with my kicking. I guess he didn't expect me to kick so well. I have powerful legs. WOO-CHA! Kicking is a SSSt sound. So kick-Ssst, front punch Tu sound, and back punch I-YA! WOO-CHA! We did a few more stretches today. WHEW! I am ready for bed!!

Space Pearls: Supernova

( Look at the large version of this picture...or if you have good eyes...can you see the angel in the middle of the pinkish red ring?! It looks just like an angel cutout I have on my dream alter from one of the RCGI gatherings.)

Two decades ago, astronomers spotted one of the brightest exploding stars in more than 400 years. Since that first sighting, the doomed star, called Supernova 1987A, has continued to fascinate astronomers with its spectacular light show. NASA's Hubble Space Telescope is one of many observatories that has been monitoring the blast's aftermath. The supernova is located 163,000 light-years away in the Large Magellanic Cloud. This image shows the entire region surrounding the supernova, the most prominent feature of which is a ring with dozens of bright spots, shining like cosmic pearls. Unleashed by the stellar blast, this material is slamming into regions along the ring's inner regions, heating them up, and causing them to glow. The ring, about a light-year across, was likely shed by the star about 20,000 years before it exploded. This image was taken in December 2006 with Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys. In Memory: Luna the Dove

Luna passed this evening, quietly into the ether of the afterlife. Whatever happened to her, it happened quickly so there was little suffering. She had a feisty spirit, full of attitude and energy. She loved my spinning wheel and she was always around it. Sitting on it, or exploring it. She'd settle to take a nap is some of the most unusual places. When I would be knitting, she would lay under my legs as I sat on the couch, cooing softly to let me know she was there and I would not step on her accidentally.

We suspect she nibbled on some salt that was dragged in from the hallway. Her last hours she expelled bloody poo. I held her, and apologized for her suffering...and I prayed to Goddess that if she had to suffer, to take her away from the pain. Don't let her suffer, I whispered as I gently cradled my weakened Luna Bird. I will miss her if you take her away from me, but better she be with You than with me in pain and suffering. Thank you Goddess.

Fly free Luna Bird. Fly free.

Where can I get a goal tracking bar?

I keep seeing these goal tracking bars all over the net, but the minute I want one, I can't find out how to get one!! *FACE PALM*

Anyone out there in that cyber space know where I can get one to keep track of my karate lessons, practice, fitness level, etc at?? Preferrably for free.

Luna Bird, is sick... :(

Luna, my dove, is exhibiting the same illness that Merlin had. The only link to both of them is the food. I feed them both the same bulk food from Pet World here in Madison. I called them up and asked them if they were spraying thier foods to control the moths (yeah, like they would admit to it). They claim it is all natural blah-blah-blah. Well, I worked at a pet store several years ago and we did spray them with bird mite pestiside to try and control the moths. SO a fair warning out there to all who buy bulk food for thier pets...BEWARE. I am gonna have to go elsewhere and buy packaged food from now on. It is more expensive, but this is for the health and happy lives of my beloved feathered friends. Luna is so weak. I noticed her feathers were all tattered and I opened the cage door and she did not run away like she always does. I hand raised this bird and she hates my hands! I picked her up and she is so weak. It brakes my heart to see another of myt pets suffer so.

She flew out as I was changing the paper and throwing out the food-santizing the food dish. She is sitting in a corner all poofed up and lookin miserable. I turned on the space heater on low and pointed it into her direction, then I grabbed some noil wool from my waste pile and placed it around her. She seems to like it. I'll have to put some on the bottom of the cage in case she is unable to perch and that way she will stay warmer. She seems to be warm and comforted all snuggled into the wool. *sigh* She is only a year old and her adult feathers are coming in (grey instead of brown). I feel so bad for her. She even tolerated my holding her like I did when she was just a week old chick. *pout*

US Cherokees vote to expel descendants of slaves

Read this and tell me this is not selfish, racist, rediculous, and complete idiosyncrasy! Do I want to advertise my Cherokee heritage...and be associated with this?!! I think not! I am my own Cherokee Nation, one that accepts all lines of Cherokee heritage!! Black, white, tan, purple, orange, blue...who are they to say someone with different colored skin is not Cherokee who has clear proof they are!! BULLSHIT!

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Native American Cherokees voted to expel descendants of black slaves from their tribe nation in a special election that has prompted charges of racism, according to returns made public early Sunday.

But a vote of 77 percent to 23 percent, the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma adopted Saturday an amendment to their constitution that strips membership from so-called "Freedmen," those descended from slaves once owned by Cherokees, blacks who were married to Cherokees and children of mixed-race families.
"The Cherokee people exercised the most basic democratic right, the right to vote," Chad Smith, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, said in a statement. "Their voice is clear as to who should be citizens of the Cherokee Nation. No one else has the right to make that determination."
However, opponents of the amendment say it was a racist project designed to deny the distribution of US government funds and tribal revenue to those with African-American heritage, US media reported.
"This is a sad chapter in Cherokee history," Taylor Keen, a Cherokee tribal council member who opposes the amendment, told the New York Times.
"But this is not my Cherokee Nation. My Cherokee Nation is one that honors all parts of her past."
Advocates of changing the 141-year-old treaty rules defining who is a Cherokee say the tribal nation has a sovereign right to decide citizenship and that other tribes base membership on blood lines.
The Cherokee Nation, which ranks as the second-largest tribe behind the Navajo, has some 250,000 to 270,000 members and is growing rapidly. Members are entitled to benefits from the US federal government and tribal services, including medical and housing aid and scholarships.
Cherokees, along with several other tribes, held black slaves and allied themselves with the Confederacy during the US civil war. After the war, the federal government in an 1866 treaty ordered the slaves freed.
In 1983, the Cherokee Nation expelled many descendants of slaves as members but a Cherokee tribunal ruled last year that the Freedmen were fully-fledged citizens with voting rights. That court decision prompted Saturday's special vote.
Native American tribes recognized by the United States government have the right to self-determination and authority similar to US states.
Election results will remain unofficial until certified by the Cherokee Nation Election Commission, but officials said percentages were not expected to change significantly.

(Sneezes) BULLSHIT

First Karate Lesson....CHECK

I made it through the first karate class of the basic-basics. We learned stretches, the basic front punch, back(power?) punch, and some basic self defense moves. It was fun, although it would have been more fun if the children in the lobby area where not giggling and laughing as they watched. I just had to ignore them, but I was very aware of them...and how I looked in that huge wall mirror. You know how you have a self-image in your head of how you THINK you look.

I. Am. Ashamed.

My biggest issue was with my spare tire bouncing all over the place! *blushes* It was very hard for me to look at that mirror, at my reflection, see how I really looked, and not look away in embarrassment or shame. I need me some support panties! HA! At least I have my humor. :P

I don't have a uniform yet as they ran out because this is the first time this location is doing adult classes. So when I do get my uniform, I will take a picture in my defensive stance. *BIG GRIN*

The instructor, Mr. Shaub, seems to be taking some extra effort in helping me feel welcomed and accepted. I'm sure he does that with all the new recruits but it was not something I was expecting at all. He remembered my name (a rarity), pronounced it correctly (shocker), greated me AND said goodbye. I am surprised. He is a short guy, my hieght (about 5' 1") and he is not so bad lookin, but I try not to think about that. He is my teacher. Not eye-candy!! Get that mind out of that gutter and don't even think about letting it gutter again!

We had to partner up, and the guy in front of me (a guy from India) turned around and said HI! So we partnered and we had fun! He was very easy going about it all so I felt very comfortable with him.

There is a Hispanic lady in the class with her hubby (I think) that looks an aweful lot like past friend I no longer associate with. She hurt me, I hurt her, we could not agree on a couple of major things, so I stayed away from her. She did a lot of "Mommying" and I was really sick of her demanding my time when I wanted to do something else with my time. I was so selfish (her words) for wanting time for ME. In other words, I am a brat for not wanting to spend my every waking free moment entertaining her ideas. *rolling eyes* We got a long really well for a long time, but then I outgrew the friendship because it seemed everything was about her, and I could not talk about me or what was bothering me without her making me feel like I was wasting my breath there towards the end. Shit happens.
So that is awkward to see someone who looked a lot like her...only a lot smaller in spare tire size. Yeah...I was the biggest lady there...and damned near the shortest. *whimper*

I go back again Wednesday, and although I am looking forward to the workout and learning...I am not looking forward to facing that mirror again. *whimper* I must be brave. I have to face this. This is good for me and that spare tire WILL shrink. I demand that it shrink! SHRINK-SHRINK DAMNED YOU! SHRINK!!!! *shrinking sounds*

No takers on guessing aye? The revealing....

This is the wing of the moth SCARF. The yarn is hand spun, and dyed, shetland (dyed and spun up by me) and I blocked this one with a new set of blocking wires which made the process a tad bit easier. It looks small on me....cause me so abundant, but on a smaller person it will be a little bigger. I am giving this one to a friend who is visiting from California this weekend. A little giftie for all she has done to help me through my Saturn Return so far.

I had two skiens of the same yarn that were both dyed with the same technique, but the second one got dyed a bit darker somehow and it makes an excellant border!! I will have to do that again...if I can!

I love knitting the scarf version of the shawl as it doesn't take nearly as long to knit up. I did this one in about 4 days. I tink I LOVED lace kniting!

What this? Knitting content?! BAH!

OOOoo what is this? I'm gonna do what someone did with me. Guess the project...and win a little something from me. :) This was knitted with my own spun Shetland fleece (fleece I bought...not raised myself although I would jump at the chance to do that too!), and dyed it too! OOOOoooooo...what could it be?!

Eye Candy-The Trifid Nebula

The Trifid Nebula, aka M20, is easy to find with a small telescope and a well-known stop in the nebula rich constellation Sagittarius. But where visible light pictures show the nebula divided into three parts by dark, obscuring dust lanes, this penetrating infrared image reveals filaments of luminous gas and newborn stars. This spectacular false-color view is courtesy of the Spitzer Space Telescope. Astronomers have used the Spitzer infrared image data to count newborn and embryonic stars that otherwise lie hidden in the natal dust and glowing clouds of this intriguing stellar nursery.
