Whew! Another lOOOng bike ride, and travelings...

I went bicycling yesterday afternoon and this time rode 21 miles! I biked over to the east side Target to exchange the earbuds I bought that were crappy as crappy gets...bought the next to the best at $40 (Y-OUCH). I would love to have a set of the $99 ones if I though they were anywhere near worth that amount! I stopped at the local Culvers for lunch and fuel to get home on. I was pooped...and sore! I really enjoy the bike trails here in Wisconsin. I have a nice tan building on my legs and arms though. It's totally awesome. I am glad however that I put some sun screen on my arms and face as by the time I got home my skin felt like it had just about enough sun for one day and was gonna start to burn. I tan so easily. My arms get dark in the summer because I am always outside. My legs...not so tan-a-riffic as they do not take to tanning as well, but that is okay.

My coworker commented last week that she thought that I was loosing weight in my hips. She said I looked smaller. Sweet! All this bicycling and karate is doing some noticable good!!!

Today I am taking my poor over-worked clunkity Kiwi over to Susans Fiber Shop in Columbus as she says she should be able to fix the noise. While I am there, I will take a gander at the Louets and yak down. I probably would not go out there if it weren't for the  BBT promotions in Sun Prairie that I have been planning to go to all week. They are somewhat close together, no sense in getting out and burning up money JUST for the promotions!! Gas is up to $3.49 here! OYE! That's $40 JUST to fill-up and we only have a 12 gallon tank!!! UGH...*faint!* That's just not right!
I am gonna take some video of the promotions so be on the lookout for a video from youtube soon!

Last night the BF and I went over to Indian Lake and I got to play fire bug! I love building fires in the fire pits. He was there to bless his new drum and say hi to a resident indian spirit. I was there to do some star gazing and fire gazing. After he blessed his drum he let me play and wouldn't you know it...I drummed me up a spirit that scared the living shit out of me! I was drummin away, starting to trance out and then there was a noise not to far away. Granted it is a park with plenty of wildlife but this was no sound of any wildlife. We both heard it at the same time and looked up at the same time. Then I just continued to play the drum and you will never guess what happened next. I was playing softly and inbetween beats, there was a beat I did not hit-plain as day. NAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! RUN-RUN-RUN-AWAY!

I stopped playin then...LMAO...I am such a chicken shit when it comes to spirits and the invisable world.

Later in the night we think we spotted a Pixie. Off in the distance there was a rapid blinking of light. We thought at first  it was just the flashlight reflecting off an animals eyes, but then the little-very rapid, blinkie started to ZIP across the open plain of the park. The BF said Bonjour to it and then it zipped right over to us. Flew right in front of my face and zipped off somewhere in the woods. I, of course, did not see it clearly as it was in the flashlight beam for a nanosecond before it fluttered away again. We thought at first it was a lightening bug, but I have never seen a lightening bug move THAT fast or blink that RAPIDLY. It boogied! ZZZZZZZzzooooooooooom!!!

Cavemen- Flop or hop?

"Over the last hundred thousand years, mankind has evolved from primitive creatures into the sophisticated beings we are today, with the exception of a small minority who unfortunately didn't physically evolve.
Meet Joel, his younger brother Jamie, and his best friend Nick, three cavemen living in modern-day Atlanta. These cavemen continually find themselves at odds with contemporary society as they struggle to overcome their physical appearance and the accompanying stereotypes.
Joel is content with his life while pursuing the American dream, and has recently become engaged to Kate, a lovely Southern Caucasian girl. However, he must constantly vie for the respect of her conservative parents. Joel's relationship with Kate and his personal contentment are constantly being put to the test by Nick and Jamie's emotional demands..
Basing the show on their popular GEICO "cavemen" commercials, Joe Lawson, Will Speck and Josh Gordon (Blades of Glory ) have created a hilarious and thought-provoking social commentary on race relations in today's America."

Here is were I first caught wind of it:

Even the reviews are a little iffy.

See the preview of the series by clicking this post header. It doesn't seem nearly as witty as the Gieco cavemen, or as entertaining or complex. It looks like a cheap rip off to try and be all that. BLAH.

Today was the day....unexpectedly so...

Today was the day to bury Luna, my dove who died over the winter. I had saved her body in the freezer till the ground was workable. I have been procrastinating burying her...it's hard to let go.

I went outside intent on simply digging up some soil just outside our patio to replace with some premium potting soil that is intended for sunflowers. Well...I started digging and kept digging and when I realized what I was doing, I unexectedly realized that this was the time to bury Luna. So I lit a sweetgrass stick, got her frozen shell out of the frezzer and wrapped her up in some muslin, and proceeded to the hole I had just dug. Nothin fancy, just a simply placement of her body in the hole with a few thoughts of prayer. To which she came, she now returns, free of cages and free of this world. I placed several inches of soil back into the hole to cover her, then proceeded to add the potting soil and plant the sunflower seedlings. For some reason, the ones I planted directly in the ground did not grow so I started some in pots. They only germinated a few days ago. The sooner into the ground they go, the less likely they will get stunted.

Last years sunfowers were in the pots way to long and they did not grow very large because of it.

*sigh* I celebrate her life, not her death. She was a fiesty one she was. Not afriad to set her boundries and let me know when I was crossing them by slapping me with a wing. LOL She loved my feet and she was always lookin for some left over seed crumb in the carpet. When she was not lookin for a snack, she would sit under my legs and settle in for a nap. She was cutie, laying there and cooing at me. We would coo back and forth. She would coo at me when I moved so I would not forget she was there under my legs and step on her. Dove's are smarter than people give them credit for! Thanks for being a spectacular feathered friend Luna. Fly free now, and don't forget to visit!! :P

Spinning Yackity-Yak

A lady contacted me via Youtube about how to spin yack. I've never worked with yack, but she offered to send me half of what she had if I agreed to send half of what I spin back and create an instuctional video for her!! SWEET!! A new fiber to try!

Yak down is sooooooooooo, deliciously soft! Softer than the primest alpaca blanket!

From what I can gather, if you have a high speed spinning kit for your wheel, it would make spinning yak easier. If not, then you just have to peddle a lot more to get the twist into the short and slippery fiber. The fiber stable is about 1 1/2 to 2 inches...not very long at all. You can also spin this on a support spindle like you would cotton.

You almost don't need to card the yak either. Most yak down I am discovering is sold already carded into batts because of it's downy nature-it is almost impossible to keep it under control since it flies away at the tiniest breeze. Carding it is a bit of a challange as well as the fiber is so short it wants to sink into the carding fabric (I use hand carders) and is difficult to get back out. It is much too short for use on regular combs.

Look for an instructional video soon on spinning this wonderfully puffy stuff! I think this fiber would make excellant yarn for thrummed mittens!

Baby Robins, WIP's, other stuff

The babies in the Robins nest outside my residence are growing quickly!! In just over a week they have gone from sightless fluffs of flesh and blood to having pin feathers and sight! They is so cute! I check on them every few days and the one in the forground of the second photo looked streight at me and went back to sleep. Not a care in the world!!

I found a hawk feather in the driveway this morning. I think it is a redtail, but I am not positive. It rests on my dreaming altar in the bedroom.

Here is my progress on the second bycicle handlebar pack. I love how the varigation of the yarn marbles when felted!! Writing out the directions for this is a pain in the ass and a big headache, but I am sure it will be worth it in the end.

Then I got the Mason Dixen book from the library and I am knitting a mini-Kimono for my teady bear. I am just cutting the stitches in the directions in half. Instead of 40 CO I did 20-etc, etc, etc.

I contacted Blogger CS about the handfull of sheep who are flagging my blog and why. They told me they did not see anything objectional on my blog so I do not have to worry about deletion. HOWEVER, they are gonna contact the blog host of the person who is instigating all of the flagging. MMMmmm, sweet-sweet, poetic, justice. 'Nuff time wasted on that!

Bite me

You will not bully me into submission or into hiding-so bite me. You fucked with me by flaking in MY SWAP and flaking ME-Cathy. I have done nothing wrong so I am not gonna deprive my regular readers because of your Troll behavior. You're a bully, plain and simple. BTW you have posted copyrighted materials on your blog, and your blog service has been contacted about it. I'd remove those elements before they get a chance to flag your blog for copyright violations.
