Plyed Aquaberry
Aquaberry
Broke already?! Sheez.
I also bought a large 175 gallon colapsable butterfly cage from Educational Science Online for my anticipated polyphemus rearing. I got an email yesterday from the man I bought the eggs from and he said they were being mailed today. EEEeeeeeee!! By the time the cage arrives, they should be hatched and growing.
The bee in the top photo I found in the garden this morning. He was just chillin. Cute little critter as he was waving his antenne at me as I tried to get a clear photo.
The second photo is the three day old Monarch cat. His colors are clearly visable today and he has trippled in size...doubling every day!! It is AMAZING how fast they grow!!
Not lingering on the brokeness of my budget, I set myself to work on spinning the rest of the Aquaberry while watching the rest of season 4 of CSI Miami, and doing the dishes. Tonight, I go up a belt level to Orange from Gold at promotion. EEEeeeeee! Hopefully, the BF will get some video this time 'round.
Until next time...

BOOKS-BOOKS-BOOKS EVERYWHERE!!
New! Music streamer on blog!
There is a new player on this site, it's for Groovelectric : Modern electronic dance music with a classic funk sound. I also love the podrunner which the same DJ mixes together. Most tracks can be purchased for $1.99 or less off www.beatport.com .
Groovelectric can also be subscribed to for free through iTunes or other feed readers/players.
Visit www.djsteveboy.com for more great music mixes, donate to the DJ because he does all this work for FREE (including hosting 36 Terabytes of bandwidth for free downloading...that ain't free for him! DONATE!! SUPPORT LOCAL DJ'S!), and merchandise (T's, caps, bags, etc).
If you think this player slows the loading time, please let me know by leaving a comment. It seemed a bit slow for me, but that could be anything as I run several things at once on my machine.Until next time...

Free Knitting Pattern: The Feather and Fan Comfort Shawl
Oh yeah! This is my next shawl!
Until next time...
Use unwanted fleece to control garden pests!!!
I have found, by sheer coinqidink, that the fleece I would normally throw away due to being soiled or with heavy VM can be used in the garden. The benefits are three fold.
One is that it helps keep moisture in when laid down thickly so that it eventually creates a felted mat. That felted mat in turn helps control weeds and other invasive plants from growing OR sprouting from seed.
The Third , and the best part is, placing your unwanted fleece around your veggies keeps the pests at bay! I found this out by sheer accident when I was simply using it as mulch. The slugs and other various nighttime leaf munchers of my beans ignored the ones that had fleece around them and instead attacked the exposed beans.
I placed some fleece around a bean that had it's first set of leaves completely eaten, but the plant is still able to survive because the growing nub in the middle of the stem was untouched. By putting the fleece around the plant, the pests never bothered it again. WOW.
So now when my veggies sprout, I get some of that unwanted felt, fluff it a bit, poke a hole through the center of the fluff, place it around the seedling, and lightly push it into the surrounding soil to anchor it in place. When it rains again, the newly placed "fleece ring" will felt and cling to the soil around it keeping it firmly in place. Amazzzing! Do I sound like an infomercial yet?
It seems that ants and pill bugs get stuck in the fleece and die.
In other news, seems that the bus company I work for is having finacial issues. I went to fuel up the work van and they told me the account for the company was on hold and no one is able to get gas. Wow. So much for job security-that just went out the window. I heard a rumor that my former employer (whom I like better and has more experince in this field) may be getting the school routes back next year. Oh Goddess! Say it is so! I miss them so much. I miss the benifits, the quirks, the extras. They know how to treat thier employees and make them wanna stay there-unlike my current employer who refuses to give raises, uphold senority, does not have road support (so if our vans brake down, we are so SOL), and no extras as an incentive to stay. I am better than that! I have a perfect driving record and I deserve more than this!

Mail Call! New roving!

OOOOooo luscious fiber goodness! Fiber p0rn ahead!! The blues with a touch of black cherry is called Aquaberry because the seller says "Reminds me of what the ocean might look like if it collided with a mass of berries." It is 21-24 micron Merino. I fell in love with it and bought that one at Poppy Flower Fibers on etsy. She has reasonable prices and reasonable shipping as well! Double positive!!
The next one that is most red with touches of lilac purple is called Drunken Sunset which I have purchased from Insubordiknit on Esty : "Hand-painted fiber and hand-spun yarns/kits from humane sources! Happy sheep make happy people!" This one is of "domestic wool" but is said to be next to skin soft. I love the colors! She had two 4+ oz braids and I bought both of them. I am totally hoarding this one!!! Also reasonable prices with reasonable shipping.
The last one is a color combination I will try to dye on my own called Super Freak (from Poppy Flower Fibers). This was bought some time ago but pictures of what people bought are shown alongside their feedback. ALl of these skiens add to my dyeing ideas. I have never dyed roving, although I could just dye batches of washed wool in the color combinations I like and then spin them all together.
Until next time...

Polyphemus Hunting, Wiccans Win!
I spent most of my weekend walking around wooded places in hunt for the elusive polymephyus moth in either cocoon, egg, or catapillar stage. Nothing. So I opted to buy some from a man who raises them in canada instead since the Catherders group has started to require people to have permits. Why I need a permit to raise a native moth in my own home is beyond me and not something I am willing to do. By getting a permit you are allowing them (govrn officials) to drop by and visit your home on a random basis. Absolutlely not! I am not in agreement with that. Especially not with raising native wild silkmoths for crying out loud. It's just rediculous. Sellers do not require the buyers to have permits, so why would freebies need one? I'm left scratching my head.
I did find a couple catapillars that I brought home. One spun a cocoon, and the other one is close to the spinning stage. I found some Monarch eggs on some milkweeds this afternoon. They should hatch in just a couple days if not sooner.
The BF made some wicked Sangeria that tastes like koolaid but has that last minute kick-you-off-your-ass affect. WEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeee....
I heard on the news that those fighting to get the pentacle on their soilder husbands headstones has finally been won. And Selena Fox put the whole situation into context. When you have to fight with the government and it's various officials to get a symbol on a headstone, and fight for the freedoms that should already be granted under the constitution by Freedom of Religion/Press/Expression...something is wrong!! What are these soilders fighting for if our simpliest constitutional rights are being violated in our own lands!? Not only that but the imigrants and illigals are living a better life here than the natives are, immigrant checks and all. History repeating itself again.
I babble as I sip on my night cap of Spiced Rum. YUM!
Until next time...
