Hummm, I missed this last year. I think I may take a gander and knit a couple scarves for them this year. I'll add a note and a link to me blog and maybe I will get some thank yous back from someone who likes the scarf. :) Click this link for details on how YOU can make a difference in someone's life.

Here is the link to the KAL blog: http://redscarfproject.wordpress.com/

And here is yet another blog supporting this: http://nownormaknits2.typepad.com/red_scarf_project_2008

Thanks to Lime and Violet for notifying thier readers that the deadlines and guidelines have changed.

Beauty and the Beast 1987 TV Series...sheet music?

If anyone knows where I can purchase the sheet music in violin for the 1987 TV series Beauty and the Beast, I would love to dust off the 'ol violin and have a go at it! Leave me a note, won't you?

First day on the job...

At the LYS was not bad at all! I was worried about being on my feet for too long as I remember the 6 hour nights at Hobby Lobby when I would be in pain by the fourth hour from standing for so long. Of course this place is no HL because it is a wonderfully small and independent place. I learned how to use thier form of checkout which was a crash course on my first day as 4 customers when in there when we opened and were ready to check out within 5 minutes! I think I got it down. I will be working there for the next 4 saterdays so I can get my training down and then I will be working there every other Saterday. That is perfect for me. I like having a second job, but I don't like working the whole weekend or every weekend. So this one might just work really well for me.

I get to do another demo project. *jumps up and down with joy!!* The Flower Basket lace shawlette in the Vickie Howell soy silk and mulberry silk yarn, in turquoise. OOOOOoh how yummy that yarn is!! SOooooooo sooooooooooft!!! OYE! I love doing these sample projects with different yarns for the store! Loverly yarn p*rn photos to come!!

Well I think I will spin up the rest of the blue wool and ply it, maybe get a few rows of that prayer shawl done and start on the demo for the LYS.

Story Time

I recieved this through of my Goddess groups and I just adore this story, so I post it here for prostarity(sp?!). This is not my work so I do not claim any copyrights to it. You may pass on as ye see fit.

My First Personal Contact with the Goddess

Author: Maestitia
Posted: July 22nd. 2007

I wanted to share with you the story of my first personal contact with the Goddess, and maybe you could share your stories as well.

A few years ago, I was on a quest to find a suitable religion. I was born and raised Roman Catholic, but ten years earlier, I had received a letter from my church advising me that I was no longer welcome there because I had not (according to their records) given them enough money.

I was furious!!

I was not aware that the gift of knowing divinity came with a price tag. I was soured on religion in general, and lived with no religious beliefs for 10 years because of it.

As I got older I decided that I shouldn't be denied that gift because of one bad experience with a bad church. I also decided that if I was going to have religious beliefs, it was going to be on MY terms, not someone else's.

I decided that the best course of action would be to write down what I really believed in my heart, and then go looking for what most closely matched my beliefs. I carefully made my list over the course of two weeks.

When the list was finished, I went to my local book store/coffee shop, and began studying every religion that I could find. When I would find one that started to sound dogmatic, or restrictive, or harmful, or just plain ridiculous, it was immediately dismissed, and I'd move on to the next.

This went on for weeks, night after night drinking coffee, and studying. After a few weeks, I stumbled upon a book on Wicca. Everything made sense.

Masculine and feminine are needed for creation in life, and so it is in the case of divinity.

You are free to do as you will, provided you harm nobody in the process.

There is no need to pay.

There is no need to convert others.

I knew I had found it.

I then decided to spend my time at the bookstore studying Wicca. I read every book they had. Some books were obviously written by idiots. (I'm sure you've seen those books allegedly teaching spells on how you can fly, become invisible, or make someone fall in love with you). These were immediately disregarded.

I didn't know any Wiccans at the time, so I knew I'd have to study, and learn, and practice by myself. And so I did.

Night after night were spent in my local woods meditating, and practicing. One night, in the midst of meditation, I asked the Goddess to come to me. I asked her to let me see her and to feel her arms holding me.

Suddenly, in my mind, I could see her. She appeared as a woman of around 20 yrs old, with long dark hair. She came to me and held me. No words were spoken, but she did smile at me, and at that moment I felt an immediate rush of motherly love. Then something very unexpected happened.

The Goddess held up one index finger as if to say, "Wait a moment".

I was a bit puzzled, but I wasn't going to ask questions. The Goddess then brought me my Grandmother who had died in 1987. I saw her as plainly as I did in life. She didn't speak, but I could hear her words speaking to my heart.

She thanked me for caring for her, and for driving her to the hospital when she was sick, and coming to see her. I was able to tell her that I knew how much she hated being in that hospital, and how she was worried about being a burden when she was sick.

She never actually told me that when she was alive, but somehow, I knew it now. I could feel her thoughts and emotions and her words. We hugged, and then she waved and walked away.

The Goddess returned.

I was confused as to why she had brought me my Grandmother. I didn't ask for that, I wasn't expecting that, and I didn't understand any of it.

The Goddess again held me, then backed up a step, looked into my eyes, and said one single word, "Trust".

Then smiled at me again and walked away.

I came out of my meditation scared, confused, nervous, and completely shaken up. I was crying my eyes out in the middle of a forest at 1:30 A.M. I cried for over an hour.

In the days that followed, I looked back on the events of that evening, and tried to make some sense of it. I believe that the Goddess had brought me my dead Grandmother for two reasons.

First, as a convincer of the things that are possible, and second, because my Grandmother had things she wanted to say to me.

The emotional impact of the evening made a huge mark on me, and when I think about it today, I still get a little misty, and my eyes get moist.

When the time came to choose my witch name, I wanted something to remember that night, that feeling. I went online and found a Latin translator. I put in the word "Sadness" and it gave me the Latin Translation "Maestitia". I knew I had found it.

There was no second-guessing.

My witch name will always remind me of that night. Sitting on the ground, crying my eyes out, and feeling the love of a Goddess who will never throw her child into a lake of fire, will never demand my money, and will let me be a human being.

I had found peace, and still have it with me.

I still go to the woods. I still have conversations with my Grandmother, and with the Goddess. I still cry sometimes.

I have found a religion that works for me. I feel loved.

The priest from my old church comes around once a year to bless houses (For a fee of course).

On the day he comes, I make sure to have out all of my Wiccan regalia. I have my candles burning, my incense burning, and I politely tell him, "No, thank you, I don't pay for my religion".

My faith is strong, and I know what the Goddess wants me to be. A healer, a counselor, a comforter, a helper.

Worsted Sock Pattern

Per the request of a reader, here is the pattern that was made up and given to me by Jamie Talbert for knitting socks with worsted weight yarn. I like worsted socks because the knit it up much quicker, are thicker, and therefor perfect for the middle of winter.

Essentially the only thing different is the size of needles and the number of stitches. The bigger the yarn, the less stitches you need.

I use US size 6 circular needles and knit in the magic loop method, toe-up, with an after thought heel. IMHO the socks go much quicker this way. I am not a fan of two circulars for one sock as the needles get in the way and create much to much clutter for one sock. I tried two socks on two circulars once...made it 2 inches into the cuff and threw it out the window. It was maddening! Two socks on one large circular is hard, but not as maddening as the two on two.

Cast on 44 st with worsted wieght yarn and knit as you usually would. Try the sock on often as worsted knits up much quicker then regular sock yarn.

First Poly emerges and first sock of the season!

Oh lookie here! The first of my poly's have emerged! Soon I will have two dozen polu moths flopping about! This one is smaller than I expected a male to be and he does not fly very well. Just kinda flops about. Weird.

And I got myself an inkling to do some socks so I started knitting the first of the three pair that I need for this winter in some yarn I have had stashed away since last fall. It is worsted weight, knit on size 6 circulars. I do the after-thought heel so that is why the gusset looks funky.

I have yet to get a response from the person I am supposed to send a fiber goodie package too. Why does this always happen? I sign up with good intentions and I am always welcomed with disappointment on the receiving end. I suppose if I do not hear from this person in a couple of weeks, all I will send is some fiber and nothing extra to fulfill MY obligation in the swap. I can't send anything extra to someone I cannot communicate with and to get to know their likes and dislikes. I hate to disappoint someone but there has not been any activity on this persons blog in months, and I have emailed twice. I await the fiber frenzy moderators comments about my inquiry of whether or not to send anything. I changed my mind, I have plenty of information from the initial email I got. It really sucks that I cannot seem to connect to the person getting my stuff. *pout* Why I continue to try these swaps...is beyond me!

Prayer Shawl progress, finished coin purse...

I am making progress on the shawl (more of a stole) for Caffinna . It is a basket weave/checker pattern that I am really enjoying! With each stitch in the three stitch repeat I chant "Maiden, Mother, Crone" Which means to me: Maiden of Light, Mother of Love, Crone of Wisdom. Near the middle most stitch (because it is an odd number of stitches) is my Infinite Healer Stone .
When I reach it I say a prayer of blessing that has come to me through meditation: "Powers that Be bless this shawl through me. May it provide comfort and warmth when it is sought in the coming healing months ahead for Caffinna." I wanted a prayer that was "non-denominational" as while our beliefs are similar they are not the same.

When I am knitting I light a candle (pictured right) that is surrounded by various healer stones including a larger piece of Infinite. Also in the circle of stones is a piece of Hematite to aid in the removal of outside negativity while I am knitting on the stole. The candle and stones sit on a mirror and the mirror sits on my wooden pentacle plaque and Yemaya's Goddess tarot card sits between them. She aids me in this work of healing and comfort.

Here are pictures of the coin purse I finished with the installed zipper. This was actually a swatch to see how a variegated batt of colored fiber would spin up . It came out into a wonderfully stripped fabric that also felted wonderfully. It sits in my witchy Geranium plant who is yet again for the third or fourth time this year sending up flower shoots!

I have a comment on that...

So I checked in with the blogathon.org website and I found out that we can still take sponsor donations for 48 hours AFTER the blogathon!!! It would have been nice to have known that BEFORE now! *face-palm*

They have a couple of "I survived Blogathon" buttons, one is in PNG format (Nothing supports that format other than that Adobe program...what is that called?) and the other was is overshadowed by a "and all I got was this lousy banner" comment. What the hell?! That totally overshadows what we did for charity with negativity! I will not have that on my blog. I am proud to have raised what I did and I have no negative feelings about it. That is really lame IMHO. How about "I survived blogathon and helped a charity grow stronger" or something MORE POSITIVE like that. Good grief. *shakes head in disbelief*

I like "I survived Blogathon, and lost my taste for coffee!" because I drank so much of it. HA!

PS! Almost forgot...Cbox changes

I have changed the settings on my Cbox Modual to require registration. Sorry folks but the stupid shits trolling the web for a place to put links to porn or to use it for free advertising is getting on my nerves. It's just one little, quick step that mostly insures these stupid heads don't have an easy time tring to take advantage of me. I've already banned one user for posting a link to porn in my cbox.

WHEW!! What a Sunday!

Wow, Sunday was harsh for me. I went to bed after the blogathon (around 8AM-I think) and I only slept till just after Noon and I could not sleep anymore because of the heat and light of day. So I got up. My contact solution had not neutralized because it had not been (hydrogen peroxide) 6 hours or longer since I poured it, so I had to wait another hour and a half to put my contacts AKA "My Eyes" in. The BF had left to do whatever so I grabbed the two books I got from the library Compassionate Knitting and Mindful Knitting and went back to the bed to read. Some things I noted about these two books is one...they are by the same author which I had not noticed till I sat down to read them. Second is that Compassionate Knitting is actually a sequel to Mindful knitting had it has A LOT LESS information on the chosen mindful state of knitting. Mindful Knitting is the best one of the two with an introduction to meditating and what mindful knitting is and how to go about it. A good first part of the book is on this subject and I like Mindful Knitting better than the second book because of this information.

Sunday I was a walking ZOMBIE!! I could not sleep anymore than I had already so once my contact solution had neutralized I put my eyes in and went about what I usually do on a Sunday which is mostly crafting. Although I really did not have the energy to do much of anything I did make it to OTBP to gander at a zipper for a felted coin purse that I felted over the Blogathon. I haven't got a picture yet but I will soon. It was actually a swatch piece to see how a variegated batt would spin and knit up. It felted wonderfully and it is stripped with blue, purple, and turquoise. BTW, I start working at OTBP this Saterday! A little extra money...that I will probably put back into the shop (LMAO!!) but then I will use that money instead of my regular income, which is a good thing. I am gonna be sort on rent this time so I am gonna have to take out a pay day loan. I hate those things...once you start it's hard to get away from it. But what-cha gonna do? I gotta pay my half of the rent...everything else can wait.

I went to Hob Lob this morning to get a Hurricane lamp cover to protect the candle I have dedicated to my healing knittin's from the wind generated by the fans. I tried to light it yesterday and the darned thing kept melting just one side of the candle. This should solve that issue. I also got a frame for my current promotion photo to send to Mum. She really enjoys getting them. Speaking of Mum...she called over the weekend to let me know she got my package of goodies and the Forrest Canopy Shawl, but she said...it's super funny... "Next time make it bigger because this thing looks like it is supposed to hang off a size 2 person." LMFAO!!! I bought a zipper for my coin purse and I also got a thank you card for K.A. while I was there.

When Mum called Sunday (for the third time) I told her it is supposed to be small because it is just a shawlette meant for the shoulders!! LMAO!! Plus it stretches! *snicker* She is so funny. I did not have the patience to talk with her Sunday because I was very grumpy and easily irritated so we decided I would call her Monday instead after I got more sleep.

Speaking of sleep!! I slept better last night than I have in WEEKS!! I was so tired that I HURT ALL OVER! I slept hard and I slept all night without waking up once! I wonder if this will serve to "reset" my sleeping pattern? We shall see. I hope it does.

I actually woke up with cramps yesterday morning and I had started spot a little. The Mussels probably did that. Thanks goodness! I haven't cycled for three months since going off birth control, and I am not preggy (already tested for that-plus the BF is shooting blanks now so it's kinda impossible but I am paranoid when it comes a possible "accident"). Although the spotting was brief and it has already stopped with no continuation of the cycle. *siiiiiiiiiiiiigh* I am just about afriad at this point to go see the Doc about it.

Until next time...

Blogathon post #37 Teetering on the Edge!!

I wanted to post a picture of my blog on the blogroll at blogathon.org.

I dunno how much longer I can hold out. I am pretty lame right now. As predicted...it is about 4AM and I am diving...

This danged BE radio is playin random clips of all sorts of crap songs...playin some sort of game with the mysterious chat room...it's totally suckin on my end right now....blah!!!!! Disappointing.

I've been steadily playing my Vampire RPG game . The damn BE radio is getting on my nerves with the switchin to differnet songs in the middle of songs...BUT They reposted how to get into the chat room! Thanks bunches!! Next year...do that more often...k?

Blagathon Post #34 Learning About Blogathon

I am listening to the Blogathon story on the BE radio and it sounds facinating. I will participate next year and I will be signed up much-much earlier. This year I just happen to stumble upon when a Blogging friend asked for a donation. The name peeked my interest as I blog a lot and some days it is an all out Blogathon! I signed up with a week to spare...hardly any time to gather sponsors but I am very happy to get what I have. I am very lucky to have the sponsor friends I have.

Okay butt is numb again...I must get up and about...

Blogathon Post #32 I collect!

Newest question of the blogathon.org website: What do you collect if anything?

I collect books. I love books, I never get around to reading them before purchasing more but I figure I will get around to reading them all someday. I also collect rocks. Semiprecious stones and other natural stones found in nature facinate me.
I also tend to collect raw fleece as I eventually turn it into yarn after cleaning, carding, and spinning it up.

(I am diligently trying to get a little extra donations through these contests!!)

Okay the radio hosts have reached the loopy stage...singing to Rocky Horror Picture Show songs...heh....don't quit yer day jobs!!!

Blogathon Post #31 Another Sponsor!!

Sweetness! My favorite LYS, Off the Beaten Path , sent through a sponsorship! I have now surpassed my sponsorship goal of $50!!! We now have $64 total!! REGI thanks you!

The picture is of the little stink that kept me up last night. Little stink, False Katydid, was in the morning glories around the bedroom window!! ACK! My ears buzzed everytime he buzzed.
He came back tonight and the BF went hunting for it and took him around the corner so we would have some peace and quiet tonight!

I am really enjoying the Blogathon Radio now that they have started to play upbeat stuff. I am also enjoying cruising the different blogs through the blogathon.org Surfing Frame. Some cool stuff out there!

Blogathon Post #30 The Name Game

Fighting to stay awake
Why did you name your blog what you did?

I named my blog Crow Calling Woman- A crafting Goddess because CCW reflects my spiritual beliefs (Earth/Native American religion) and Crafting Goddess reflects my craftiness. So people know, I am non-mainstream and a crafter. :) I also love Crows.

At this point I am at a loss as to what to write about so I am listening to the Blogathon radio (WHY do they play SLOW, SLEEPY songs for the middle of the night bloggin?! Is thier idea of toture?! AAAAAAAaaaah!!!) and participating in the contests on the Blogathon website. So I am posting my answers here as something to blog about as I am fighting to stay awake as seen in the photo....graciously taken by the S.O.

Blogathon Post #29 Wanna hear something Scary?

So blogathon central is having regular contests which is helping me to stay away longer as it is forcing me to focus. This one was about ghosts. Do you believe inthem and have you ever seen any. Oh yes. I have seen many and I tell the story of my very first encounter, the one that started it all....

Yes I do firmly believe in ghosts. The one I remember very vividly was when I was still living with my mother and I think I was around 12 or so years old. I remember waking up in the middle of the night, and there stood a man at the end of my bed. My bed was against the wall at two sides (one side and the head of the bed) and at the head of the bed where two windows. He was at the end of my bed right in the middle of the room. He wore a black long-coat and a black top-hat. I blinked a few times, rubbed my eyes, and there he still stood...plan as day! There was a light in front of my windows in the duplex we lived in that shone in my bedroom so there was plenty of soft lamp light to see by. "Who are you? What do you want?" I asked. He seemed to have nodded at me and then he walked up and out the windows. I lay there, leaning on one arm, starring at the window where the man had seeminly phased through. As I blinked, the shadow of the Oak tree from outside my bedroom windows phased into reality. Was I awake that whole that time or was I dreaming a waking dream? I still wonder about it. I asked my Aunt about it and she was all up in a panic.

"Never talk to it!" My heart stopped. "Why" I had asked.

"Because it is the Devil!!" She urged at me.

"It was not the Devil. He did not harm me and I was not afraid of him."

Then she told me a similar story of her experience with the man in the longcoat and tophat when she and Mom lived with her grandparents on an old farm way out in the country of my home town. She said the shadows always moved around, and Mom agreed to that one. Although Mom never saw the man in the longcoat and tophat, my Aunt was scared silly over her experience.

I still do not know, to this day, who or what the man was but I have been able to sense ghosts nearby ever since. I even had an out of body experience not so long ago where an Indian Man led me out of the bedroom and out of the living room into a forest. But that is not as scary as the other story. Maybe the man in the longcoat and tophat is a sign that the person seeing him, will forever be connected to the paranormal...
