DVD Burning Adventures and boringness

Well I finally got a DVD burned for my Mum...after a butt load of program issues (updating helped) and then the LOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo-ooooooooooo-ooooooooooo *breath*....LOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooog time it took for the computer to transcode it to DVD format. Then I previewed on the TV and the damned slideshow pics...which I spend a good two hours putting names on, were bigger than the TV and those names didn't show! *faints!* I wanted to get this DVD out to Mum before thanksgiving so she would not feel so alone. Well...no chance of that now. Three days in the mail plus one because of the holiday and no mail delivery...not enough time...not enough at all. Well poopie. I will work on recreating the slideshow so the names show up (I like to name the photographs) and that means twice as many pictures, and a longer burn time, then reburn it overnight so I don't have to go without the puter during the day. The one feature I like is that it has an option to shut the puter down when burning is complete. I like that.

It says on the box (Memorex Duel Layer 16/16 Burner) that it burns a full DVD in 7 minutes or less. This is misleading. The actual burning takes less than 7 minutes...the transcoding, however, they tell me can take 15 minutes to 20 hours....TWENTY HOURS!!!! All depending on the computer speed! We have the bare min on Ram (512)...and more would be at least $80 USED.

Well maybe next month we will work on that. The BF seems more willing to add goodies to the puter when I help, and I think I have convienced myself that I do not have to spend money if I have it. Nest-egg, nest-egg, nest egg. Must save-save-save. I like to have money to do something spontanious, or if an emergency comes up. Just the feeling of having the extra money in the bank, put back is comforting. We are so conditioned to buy-buy-buy instead of save-save-save. I like to get extra goodies now and again, but that is impossible to do when I spend my check as soon as I get it. I'm doing good. I spent a whole $65 on myself last payday. About a third of the check went towards the bills to get them caught up...of which I had been slacking. I like having the bills paid up AND having extra money on the side.

Anyway, the groups online that I am a member of have been soooooooo boring. Either little chatter, none at all (as the case with my groups...humph!), or chatter on anything but something interesting to me. Blah. I've gotten a lot of knitting done and I am halfway done with that second sock already! I knit so much faster now since my knittin friend caught my backwards knitting.

Until next time...

Thanks for the feedback! Most comments will be published right away except for you pathetic spammers who's messages will never see the light of day. If you are offended by having to fill one a "prove you are not a robot" form, my goodness...chill out! It takes two seconds to do and saves me a ton spam to have to filter through and it takes two seconds, MAX. If you are that easily offended, maybe you should simply not comment, and seek some counseling.
