Where'd every one go?

No one seems to be online today and I am becoming bored! I must pick up one of the several projects I have going. I need to knit a lot of the lace shawl as I told the store I would have it done in a couple weeks...with one week almost through!!! ACK!!

I got a bunch of different audio CD's from the library yesterday while I was stuck on the west side for work. I need more relaxation CD's as all I have are mostly energy filled.

SO I checked out:
Obo Addy : The rhythm of which a great cheif walks gracefully (so far so good, but this is more energetic than I was aiming for but it still is good)

Kitao: India (mostly sythaziser beats but very indish)

2002: River of Stars (haven't made it to listening to this one yet but it is popular with the pagan crowds so I thought I would give it a listen)

Ancestral Voices by Carlos Nakai and William Eaton (both great NA Flute players so this was a no brainer)

Tropical Surf (nothing is more soothing than the sound of the ocean lapping or crashing upon rocks and beach)

I also checked out some audio books: Dark Side of the Moon by Sherrilyn Kenyon (a vampire novel...my favorite) and The Beginners Guide to Buddhism. I don't really know too much about Buddhism so this was another no brainers as it is only one disc. Then I checked out Folk Bags and Folk Mittens. There is one pattern in the bag book that would look loverly on my bicycle handlebars and will be easily converted to a bicycle handle bag.

Then I was thinking of knitting a cotton baby blanket for A Place to Bark who says they are always in need of towels and small blankets. I want to design a blanket that says, in garter stitches, "Bless this Future Pet" with a puppy motif. Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside just thinking about it!!

Until next time...

  1. Hi there,
I am the one you gave the sock pattern to. Thanks again. What do you use for a string to turn the wheel on your spinning wheel. I live in a rural area and I have been trying to come up with something that will work till I get to a yarn shop. Thanks. Bird Girl

  2. Hey there Bird Girl!

I would think you could substitute any cotton cording (or yarn) for a short time. What I would do is give it some extra twist to add some extra strength and to lessen stretching. Then just cut the same amount as the broken drive band and tie the ends together. Both of my wheels have plastic bands.

  3. Thanks for the advice. I will try some cotton yarn first. My wheel is pre 1900's and I have no idea what kind of band was on it. I tried some yarn but it stretched too much. I will give it a try and let you know. BG

  4. Hey again,
I can't get the leader to wind onto the spool. I have tried everything including adjusting the tension. What am I doing wrong? BG

  5. I have no idea. Do you have a single or double drive wheel, and what brand do you have?

  6. There is no brand as it is from the 1800's sometime. The spool has three grooves of different widths. The string goes over one of those and on to the wheel. This is so frustrating because I have done everything and the leader won't wind onto the spool. BG

  8. I don't know how to upload but if you have an address I can send it to that would be good. If you don't want to give me your email address, I might be able to have my cousin help me upload. She is in PA and I am in CO but she has helped me before with stuff. Thanks. BG

Thanks for the feedback! Most comments will be published right away except for you pathetic spammers who's messages will never see the light of day. If you are offended by having to fill one a "prove you are not a robot" form, my goodness...chill out! It takes two seconds to do and saves me a ton spam to have to filter through and it takes two seconds, MAX. If you are that easily offended, maybe you should simply not comment, and seek some counseling.
