Pipers in the Prairie 2007

This was a really, superly nice event and the Leapold Nature Center really puts out for it! Considering this is their biggest money maker. The event had the price tag of $125 per couple but there was food EVERYWHERE from all sorts of different vendors! Even wine and liquor tasting! I have had way too much of that liquor this weekend. I had two Red Ale's last night that kept me up all night. Humph! I think it was a mix of the beer and the hot temps that kept me from sleeping. For some reason, when it is hot or humid outside, I don't sleep well anymore! What is up with THAT shit?!

You can see a slide show of the photos I shot here: View slideshow

I have video too but Windows Movie maker is slow and I am too tired to put something together and upload it to youtube tonight. I totally walked up to the Green Man and asked if I get good luck for the rest of the year for "catching" him. The BF dared me to...and then he was totally flippin out when I did it! LMAO! No you aren't...he said after he mentioned that I should go catch him and I started walking off. Yes, I am I said and walked right up to him, hooked arms with him and had a nice small chat. I think the Green Man was caught off guard! LMAO!! We both had fun. We even saw a couple news anchor personalities from WKOW there as well!

I cast on for the Secret of the Stole, and the yarn shop gave me another project to knit. I dunno how I am supposed to keep up with everything at this rate! I have next Saturday off thankfully. We decided that I would take the second Saturday each month off because I need at least one weekend to myself! On the other hand I will be working more during the week day as well, so I will not have nearly any time to myself for knitting still. I need the extra money though. The extra $50 I got from working at the yarn shop made a difference in being able to go to the Pipers in the Prairie or not.

What does your Birth Date mean?

Your Birthdate: March 22

You tend to be understated and under appreciated.
You have a hidden force to do amazing things, doing them your own way.
People may see you as strange and shy, but they know little.
Your unconventional ways have more power than they (and even you) know.

Your strength: Standing up for what you know is true

Your weakness: You tend to be picky and rigid

Your power color: Silver

Your power symbol: Square

Your power month: April

OH how so very true!!

Until next time...

The Five Things Closest To My Chair

Take a look around you. Apart from your computer and its peripherals, and your computer desk/table/milk crate and chair, what, in order of their physical closeness, are the five things nearest to you right now?

1. Coffee Mug with soda

2. Quartz rock I found at railroad

3. Hankie (full of snot! HA!)

4. Flu Reduce (so I remember to take it ever 6 hours for this bug I have)

5. Digital Camera

New feature: Cbox!!

New feature added to replace meebo. Cbox. It is a dynamic chat box service. You can register your chat username or choose to enter it each time you visit. Spammers and mean people will be blocked of course, a wonderful premuim feature. Meebo needs a window open to work, and they have no stand alone feature so this will work better for communication efforts. I also have messages emailed to me on a daily basis, so even if no one replies right away, I will get the message and come back to comment if necessary. Cbox is in the panel where the Meebo used to be (Chatter Box panel on the right side-down just a bit). Enjoy and play nice!!

OMG Drum carder HOOOOOo and Podrunner T!

OMG! Look at this fibery goodness! The orange lookin bat looks more orange but it has a lot of green and dark golden yellow tones to it that reminds me of a sunflower garden in the fall. So that bat is called Sunflower Garden. I think it would make an excellant sock yarn, perfect for Fall!!
If I decide to sell my bats, I dunno how well my camera is gonna depict the colors. The purple ball has some burgandy silk carded into it.
The owner of Susan's Fiber Shop is such a nice person. She is the nicest fiber shop owner I have met in the longest time. She lets layaway bigger purchases while allowing me to take it home and play with it while it is being paid off. How cool is that?!

I got my Podrunner T! OOOO lookie! Me likie-likie!

Great Midwest Alapaca Festival

I'm thinkin it will be something like the Sheep and Wool festival so I am excited to go even if I don't have much money to buy anything extra. LIKE I NEED MORE FIBER?! LMAO

The BF last night inquired about the fees associated with just getting in. Seems there is free admission with only parking to pay for, but we can park in public parking down the street at a lakeside park and walk. It's gonna be a FANTASTIC day to walk so no complaints from either one of us! Imagine that!! I was pleasantly surprised when Mike said he wanted to go because it "might be fun"... *double take!* Say wha!? Who are you and what have you done with the real Mike? No....nevermind...I like this Mike and I will keep him! How much for the interactive BF?!

LMFAO!
I just wanna hug em and squeeze 'em!!! This makes me sooooooooooo happy!

Gone Fishin

I think I am gonna go fishin today. It's the last day of spring break and it is supposed to be partly sunny and in the upper 40's. Better than a couple days ago when I biked in freezing temps below 32!!

I found a telescoping fishin pole at Big Lots this morning along with bags and bags of apple chips! I LOVE APPLE CHIPS!! MMMmm...I bought some for myself and some to share.

I harvested some of my composting redworms to go fishing with. When I opened the lid to my worm bin there was this HUGE green, slimey and writhing mass in the middle! It was just PACKED with worms!! I figured out that the green mass was the remains of cactus that I had thrown in a couple of weeks ago because it had started to spoil in the fridge-Zar's favorite food. I think the worms like cactus too!!! HA!!

I scooped out a couple big lumps of worm manure and picked out the biggest wormies of the lot and then tossed the manure into the potted plants. My worm farming has been very succussful over the winter months! Last year I didn't fish at all so this year, since I have a means to get myself to the water I will be fishing more often.

There is a nice fishin spot right next to the library so I will go and pay my fine and reserve a copy if Inkle weaving since the used copies online are costing $40 and up!! It's an old book...hardly a collectable. I'm not payin that much for it!

MMMmm apple chips....MMMmmm

Then after fishing I think I will visit the LYS and see what they have for pima cotton. I need to ask someone to take the book back I borrowed from the Knittin Guild's library as I won't be going anymore. It's the same evening as karate class, and frankly...I'd rather go to karate. The meetings for the Guild have been unbarably boring the last couple of months so I think I will just skip it from now on.

And I'm off!!

Until next time...

A bike!-A Bike! I gotta new bike!!

When you wish for abundance...it comes!

I bought myself a brand spankin new bike from Erik's Bike shop where they guarantee the price is the lowest in town. I am not sure what brand it is but it is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!

I had to get a helmet too but that is okay. With the way people drive in this town I'll need it!!

I went around the neighborhood twice and I was whipped out! We live in an area with lots of hills so going down them is a load of fun...but coming back home is not so fun...whew!! It's so nice to have a bike for my body type. Pat at the Erik's Bike Shop east side location was super helpful. I was so bashful about trying it out, but he said he would just need my liscense and CC/Debit card to hold while I am out testing it out. I miss having a bike I can enjoy. The walfart bike is trash for me because the seat will not go down as far as I need and then the handle bars will not go up as far as I need. Damned spare tire is always in the way...but I can sit up streight and not bother with it on this bike. I had an inkling to go to that spacific store, and when he showed me this bike I had a very good feeling about it. I have a foot pump somewhere...I just gotta find it! So now I need to tote the old walfart bike to the RCGI motherhouse to donate to them. Maybe I can get some credit from it towards my theology course.

I consider this my Bday present to myself because no one else would buy it for me. I gotta do something for me once in a while yeah know. This will help with my wieght loss too. Come spring break I will be on this thing everyday to get my coffee! I just need to get a lock as the bike lock is being used to keep the storage space locked up as I haven't needed to use it till now. I'll run and get a lock later. Right now it is lunch time! Beer brauts and beer! Boy am I famished!!!
