WOW what a mail day!!

WOW! I got all kinds of goodies in the mail today!
I ordered some blended glitz from legacystudios on ebay and that arrived today in the form of Fire and Tropical glitz...OOOoo droool!

Then I won a price from the Needle Felting forums online and I got that today. A Beary Best Friend needle felting kit from www.bluegooseglen.com. I cannot wait to tear into that one! LMAO!

Then I got some special poly envies today so that I have something light and cheap to send orders in through my etsy shop. Sold some Shetland batts but the mohair is not moving. *scratching forhead* I thought mohair was a popular fiber item? Oh well. Win some loose some and I definately lost on the mohair after finding out I am allergic to it-the hard way.

I have 11 pounds of lucious llama fleece on the way to me from Northern Wisconsin. A fiber dealer up Nort was selling a bunch on ebay and I got one lot of 5 1/2 pounds of light brown llama fleece for $3 (without shipping)!! Holy smokes! I went on a fleece binge. I bought two more smaller lots and ended up spending $32 for the 11 pounds with the shipping. What a steal!!! Shipping to within the same state is pretty damned reasonable and a lot cheaper than going to pick it up with gas being so high. Who would have thunk that I would prefer it to be shipped rather than just pickin it up? Totally backwards.

Today I won an auction for 2 pounds of Targee fleece (skirted) and that seller is even closer to me than the first!! And as we chatted back and forth through email after I had asked a question about the auction, found out that she also has lots more different fleeces for $5 a pound. SO I tacked on 2 pound of skirted Merino. OOOh I am so bad. Awayith Da'Bill!!! I am being bad!!!

So since I have all my goodies for making the third part of the carding tutorial, I am working away at that.

Saterday I got a postcard in the mail from Karate America with encouraging words.

"Your hard work and determination is paying off! Great job in class and keep pushing your team-mates to match your black belt attitude! -Mr. Shaub"
That came a great time. I was beginning to loose some steam but this really helps! That place is the greatest and is very worthy of every cent I pay them for my training.

Until next time...

Mail call! Solar dyeing, and new punching bag!

Does anyone remember that spell for the return of positive karma just a few months ago? WOW, did it ever work!
A lady who saw my instructional spinning videos sent me a box full of fleece Dorset/Romney cross meat stock but the fleece is sooooo fine!! Thank you so much!! I am also helping her to get her buisness online in return for her generousity.
Then I gandered over to a garage sale in my neighborhood and found an army green duffle bag that can be easily converted to a punchin bag for $4!! I had been wanting one of those! I just have to rip the side pocket off because the metal button would not be fun to punch...YOUCH.
All my Monarchs have pupated so I do not have to gather anymore milkweed. My Polyphemus cats are doing well and growing now. I have 24 more eggs coming my way...YIPPIE!
The grocery had seedless watermelons on sale so I bought me one. OOOOSolar Ovenoo so goood!!
And I built myself a solar oven to try solar dying in. The plastic jar in there was actually a container full of plaster but I put the plaster in a plastic bag so I could dye a large amount of Shetland fleece at once. Within ten minutes the temp inside was well on it's way up and already above 100 degrees (oven thermometer). The temps are supposed to rise outside today near 90 with no wind. Perfect day for solar dying.
Today is ending up being a fantastic day. I have dishes starring me in the face waiting to be washed but they can wait for now.
Arm Bag filled with rags

Monarch Chrysalis
Polyphemus Cats

Until next time...

Mail Call! New roving!

OOOOooo luscious fiber goodness! Fiber p0rn ahead!! The blues with a touch of black cherry is called Aquaberry because the seller says "Reminds me of what the ocean might look like if it collided with a mass of berries." It is 21-24 micron Merino. I fell in love with it and bought that one at Poppy Flower Fibers on etsy. She has reasonable prices and reasonable shipping as well! Double positive!!

The next one that is most red with touches of lilac purple is called Drunken Sunset which I have purchased from Insubordiknit on Esty : "Hand-painted fiber and hand-spun yarns/kits from humane sources! Happy sheep make happy people!" This one is of "domestic wool" but is said to be next to skin soft. I love the colors! She had two 4+ oz braids and I bought both of them. I am totally hoarding this one!!! Also reasonable prices with reasonable shipping.

The last one is a color combination I will try to dye on my own called Super Freak (from Poppy Flower Fibers). This was bought some time ago but pictures of what people bought are shown alongside their feedback. ALl of these skiens add to my dyeing ideas. I have never dyed roving, although I could just dye batches of washed wool in the color combinations I like and then spin them all together.

Until next time...

Mail call!! Making a new gadget...

MAIL CALL!! I finally got the yak I ordered off ebay.

This is some super soft and lightly carded stuff! At 8 ounces for just over $13...this was a steal even with shipping costs!!

I am gonna gander at making another new gadget. A Mother Marion kick spindle. You can see one in action here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKXca2l0RPo

I have some arrow shafts from when I was into archery that already have the metal points on them. This is perfect. I have lots of scrap wood and I bought a lawn mower wheel of which I will have to either rip out the ball baring center or clue it in place.

Until next time...

Not only that but tea too and an interesting keyring!!

Then there was this Bag Lady tea box that said Happy Bday on it! LMAO! CUTE!!!

Then there is a clue...a clue to who my SP10 pal is. That clue are these two GORGIOUS buttons! I LOVE THEM and they remind me of Spring Goddesses. On the back there is written: "This is a clue. It also reminded me of you."
HUmmm, well the first clue was "Your interests (not spinning, or karate - other stuff that is important to you - that kinda "sums" you up) and an online community "project" of mine have someone in common." ...so it must be someone from of the groups I am active in. Not only that but the return address is from Bloomington Indiana!! My home state!!! HUMMmmmmm will have to think on it some more.

THANKS SP10 PAL! I now have enough chocolate to last me several sedated weeks!! LOL

Swappers Blacklists, Blockbuster Rip-off

YEAY! I've got a new helper for the blacklists blog-Flaker Hater....how cute! We've added three new entries in direct relation to the mystery skien swap. A flaker, one with commitment issues, and one with Holier Than Thou Syndrom (HTT). HTT shows itselfs in these symptoms: a swapper who is never happy no matter how much you try to please them, a swapper who tries to tell hostess or others on list how they should act/post on list (eh, excuse me?!), a swapper that has the most lame-ass, childish complaints. I suppose you could compair these symptoms with Troll Syndrom because they are so much alike.

I canceled my Blockbuster online account after the date it renewed and I thought it would be no biggie. I would just use the next month already paid for right? WRONG. Blockbuster is trying to tell me that 15 DAYS before the cancel date (3.10.07) they will stop sending me movies. Ummm the 18.99 I paid is for 30 DAYS subscription, not flippin half of that. They are not answer or clarifying on this and are dodging the question by trying to offer me half of thier subscription prices for 6 months. I don't need them. They SUCK. I had CSI Miami season three in my queue for the entire two week trial and did not get a one of the series but got what I had UNDER those in my queue. So they tell me "if a shipment will take more than 2 business days to ship, it is skipped and the next and nearest available movie is shipped". Okay...so do those movies with a ship time of more than 2 days EVER ship?? They won't answer that one either. My local "total access" store has a lame selection of movies and only has CSI Miami season one. I am on season 4 through netflix. Netflix is faster, thier website loads faster, and they send what is ON TOP in my queue...whether or not it takes more than a couple days or not. If it does, then they tell me it's shipping from a location further away and will take a few days longer. I'm okay with that.

I am not kosher at all with Blockbuster trying to tell me I will only get HALF of the subscription I paid for and then trying to bait me into purchasing another membership plan, and then trying to tell me that they do not offer refunds or partial refunds. I'm sure the BBB will have something to say about that cause that is essentially THEFT. They are fuckin with the wrong consumer...this consumer knows better.

Until next time...

Silk Wrist Warmers, Bottle Swap

Thanks again to my SMAT pal who sent me some of the most wonderful hand spun silk yarn I have ever felt! They just screamed to be made into wrist warmers...something I had never before considered making. They is soft and warm, like socks for the hands! I made these with the help of wrist warmer generator. I know! A generator for these? YES! Found here.

I sent off my bottle to my bottle swap person. This was definitely interesting to stuff and plop into a mailbox!! I included some coffee sample packs because her profile said she likes coffee, some of my own roving (blended on those wonderful combs!), two skeins of merino sock yarn, and a Lilac candle tin because she is a lilac lover like I am! I could never have enough sweet smellin lilac candles! Speaking of the combs, someone left a comment on one of my instructional videos that they were not working for them. Uhhh, okay. Not that that tells me much more than the person didn't listen very well to the videos, but how do hand combs "not work"?? Sounds like operator error to me! If you are having a problem, and you are reading this...leave me a bit more detail than that because although I do consider myself a pagan, I cannot read your mind. How are they not working for you? What are you doing/not doing?

As for the new move...I think I may just stay on blogger as wordpad takes sooooooooooooo long to load! Cripes. I am not paying for a slow loading server!! Blogger is faster, easier, simpler....and FREE!

Until next time...
